This is the FAQs section, on this page i will try to include general FAQs
about dominion, and the lore surrounding some of the rounds. This isnt
a "how to" page so dont look for answers on how to build a perfect dominion,
try the guide pages for that. If you have anything of interest to tell
then please send it in.
The Grinch
The following is a post by madwombat:
I was the monarch of 141 (ie, Rampaging Telemarketers).
Early in the round, we were quite strong. A few weeks in, some other realms
decided we were too strong, and to kill
us. Unfortunately for them, immortal troops gave them some problems. So,
our realm mate (Aye Cue) who was
playing Dark Elf managed to get hit 70+ times as his defence actually died
on razes. Meanwhile, the rest of us
beat down the attackers, and rose to the top.
Several weeks later, Cephus (the grinch) was #1 with approx 23k acres. The
other guys in 141 were a couple of
thousand acres behind at around 18-21k (already filling up 5 of the top
6 spots). Salem went down to a very low
acreage, with an exceedingly high number of draftees and platinum, and then
explored 37000 acres at once. 37000 *
0.6 = 22200, so cephus was the ONLY person in her RG range. Of course, he
had a LOT of offence, and hit her 7
times, gaining a large amount of land.
This caused lots of people to get upset and moan on the boards. Ross and
Cephus both agree that it would be ok if
the extra acres were removed (as they were essentially free anyway), but
then people complained about that too,
so the acres stayed.
As a result, Cephus basically sat out the rest of the round on a ridiculously
large acreage, while the other
undeads in 141 proceeded to continue with the beating down.
At the end of the round, we consolidated our position by essentially suiciding
some of the other large dominions.
Since we lost no troops when we got retaliated on, this allowed us to wreck
the competition, while growing our
own land sizes (though wrecking our economies!). I went from 23k acres down
to 11k acres, and back up to 25k
acres in the space of about 3 days. Macros did similarly, but was hit a
little harder than I was, and didn't make
it up quite as high.
It's unlikely to have anything like that happen again, since what allowed
us to get so large was the conversion
of vampires into more vampires when you attacked (Ross has since changed
this). By the end, I had around 350000
vampires, and around 90000 wraiths.

Who the hell are HaLL?
Rambo, if you or any of your lackeys are reading this i wouldnt mind if
you put down your version of events and your
final demise.
If anyone wants to take the time to give a more in depth account of what
happened then please send it in to me.
For those who just want a synopsis, HaLL (anyone know what it stands for?)
was an alliance, and still is i believe in
utopia. However, during the earlier rounds until about round 17 i think,
they were operational, basically
wrecking people's rounds by collaborating out of realm with spy operations,
razes etc. The average player might
have been in a war with some of them, but the top players started to complain
about the unfair play that was
taking place, as tactical and strategic (skill) advantage meant nothing
against a group of players who used their
combined strength to rise in the ranks. Some people formed an "anti-alliance
alliance", which sought to find the
members of HaLL through various means (they were called "salami" and before
anyone says anything, yes i was a
memeber for a while, until i realised the difficulty in targetting and knowing
exactly who was HaLL and who
wasnt). The main thing that forced HaLL into redundancy was Ross implementing
a lot of anti alliance rules and
ways of creating an even playing field, such as the Farming Script (Props
to Ross for that).
So now (at least when i stopped playing at about round 23) HaLL became impotent
and stopped playing dominion.
